We provide assistance to identify and locate timely and accurate information on resources and services available within community-based networks that are responsive to the varied needs of families and individuals. We also provide educational advocacy services on an as needed basis.

We offer short-term service navigation focusing on individualized assistance with information, referral, or assistance with a specific problem solution. Vinfen also provides extended service navigation for families and individuals who would benefit from on-going support, coordination of services, and the development of a comprehensive family support plan.

We offer quarterly family service orientation and informational sessions and bi-monthly education and trainings designed to promote self-determination and choice.

We help families to share their expertise with other families and staff, including parent networking and parent-to-parent connections. The Family Support Center currently has two monthly events: a Virtual Parent Support Group and an interactive Virtual Game Night. The Virtual Parent Support Group, open to parents of children under the age of 18 with intellectual and developmental disability, provides an opportunity for parents to meet other caregivers in a safe and welcoming environment. The Virtual Game Night welcomes teenagers and adults for an evening of fun while interacting socially with peers and a Vinfen staff member. To learn more about these events, click here. 

Families are also welcomed to join one of  Vinfen’s Family Advisory Councils, which offers families mentoring and peer support opportunities. 

We develop partnerships and engage in collaborative activities with community organizations and partner agencies to help families and individuals choose locally-based supports such as respite care, healthcare goods, support services, and transportation.

We administer flexible funding allocations for families or individuals identified as eligible by the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS). Vinfen manages individual resource allocations, ensuring compliance with DDS, state, and federal rules.
